Heptathlon Training

Hello,

Here is what my new training schedule looks like now, under Andy's coaching. Everyday I am running and I am really learning to move so smoothly and with great confidence! We have worked a great deal on letting the tension go from my upper body and moving effortlessly from the shoulders, as I work hard off the ground and push with every step. Thanks to all the running, I have ample practice at this and it is really starting to pay out and I am feeling more and more confident to push myself in the running and really just allow my body to move, and it is feeling amazing; I have moments where I truly feel fast and excited at my potential for speed!

Susan

  1. Hi Susan,
I was wondering why gymnastics is part of your training? It is good that your training is going well

  2. Hi Mackenzie,

Gymnastics is great for training as it gives you a sense of your body. It helps for flexibility and sometimes, it can just be a fun exercise at the end of a hard week for us to play and relax.

  4. Is there a way to communicate with via e-mail? I'm a coach my self and ex Decathlete. Right now I'm prepairing my first Heptathlit and she is 14 years old. I would love to exchange information regarding training so I would not "burn" her out.
E-mail me to robendeca@gmail.com if it's not too much of a trouble.

  5. Hi Susan,

I am a sophmore in college and I am competing in the heptathlon . Last year I missed out going to Nationals by 60 points. I have great coaches, but they don't really know how to train a multieventer. I am really focused this year but I do not have any sort of training regime. Do you think that you could help me get together a rough workout schedule?
I would really appreciate any help I could get!
    Thank you!

  6. Hi Susan,

I 15 years old and I am now starting to train for heptathlon. Since I am the first person in my club to do this event my coaches don't know how to train me. I tried making my own schedule but it is not working out. Would you be able to help me organize one?

    Kafi :)
